Updated: September 2010Activity Days Currently: The Club's activity days include training courses on Saturdays, with 'Ladies Training Day' on Thursdays - Teaching Basic 1, Basic 2 and Better Sailing to ANY person wishing to learn how to sail. A Safety Boat course is being organised. (There's lots more detail on the Yachting Australia site, and the dates of the next training courses are on the Sail Training on the Urunga site. Open times: Currently: The clubhouse is open presently on Saturdays and Sundays, from about 8:30am until sailing activities finish, as well as on the Friday evenings of the BBQs. Club Information: Currently: Full Moon Family BBQ each month at the clubhouse - the next two dates are Friday July 23 and Friday August 27 (both at 5.30 pm.) Other information: The Bellinger and Kalang Rivers are narrow and shallow. We regularly have northeast southerlies and the wind is ALWAYS going the opposite direction to the tide!. BUT the sailing is great. Google Earth "Urunga NSW Australia" for accurate details of our river system. Note. Bridge clearance is less than 6 metres! These rivers are suitable for all small sailing craft..
A recent photo showing one of our 2.3s on the Kalang River Pictured below is, Rob Veneziano the day after the 2 Sailability boats arrived. Rob had never sailed solo before. This was taken after just 30 minutes of tuition. I must be a good teacher. Finally we have 2 boats! Many thanks to Richard Macintosh who had the foresight to hang in there and believe that someone would revive Sailability up here. There are more coming but we will just have to wait.
